Get away from the comfort of the resort and explore the backroads of Punta Cana like the locals do it. The trip starts by driving through countryside road, expect to get full of mud while enjoying the colorful Caribbean houses along the way. Hope you are not afraid to get a little dirty. The first stop is at a coffee and cacao family-owned factory. Here you will learn how locals produce 100% organic coffee and cacao. Before the trip continues, you will taste the flavors of a common Dominican breakfast beverage. After the factory you will get back on the path and head out to Macao Beach. Macao Beach is the perfect picture of paradise. Clear water (most of the time), powdery sand and coconut trees. Here there are snacks for sell by local vendors. After you take a dip in the beach and remove all the mud, you must try an ‘Empanada’. Once the time is up at the beach, you will get full of mud again. A 30–40-minute ride through the backroads will end up at a nature cave (Cenote). A Cenote is a natural spring within a cave, the refreshing water is 70 degrees all year round. If you don’t know how to swim, we recommend you bring a life vest because there is no shallow areas in this cave. After a splash in the cenote, you will go back to where it all started. You may bring a change of clothes and a towel to clean up and change at the ranch.
